The second week in January is National 4th Graders Day, which means we get to celebrate our amazing students! I student taught in 4th grade and after a few years of teaching found my way back there and loved it!
And aren’t 4th graders fun? Who doesn’t love multiplying, dividing, writing

informational texts, and learning state history? (I mean our students…but only sometimes) And 4th graders are old enough to get into some of the internet trends, 6 7 anyone? I love reading their essays and seeing their creativity. Life feels pretty magical in 4th grade most days.
My favorite tales from my 4th-grade
experience come from the year that I
was pregnant. These stories capture the

sweetness and chaos of this grade level. One day, a student asked me if I was having twins. When I said no, his response was, "Well, you're big enough to..." The audacity and the sass! Another day, I had an IEP meeting in the morning, so an aide started the day with my class. When I returned to my classroom, several of my students were crying because they thought I had had my baby and left without saying goodbye. My final story happened on the first day back from my maternity leave. It involves a guinea pig, a backpack, an emptied storage tote, and lots of poop. I'll let you read between the lines to figure that one out 😉
