As a 4th-grade Utah teacher, it’s easy to look at social studies as Mormon pioneers and not much else. While pioneers played a significant role in the state's history, there is so much more to Utah than that! The state has some of the best pre-Columbian petroglyphs in the USA. It’s home to 5 federally recognized tribes that have lived in Utah for thousands of years. Evidence of their history and continued culture is all over the state! Spanish explorers, mountain men, pony express, and the transcontinental railroad all happened here as well!
Wow, that sounds like a lot to teach, and it is! That’s why I created a year-long curriculum for you —to take the planning off your shoulders and put the fun back into teaching!
This year-long curriculum meets the newest social studies standards (2024). It was written by a Utah teacher for Utah teachers. It includes a scope and sequence, lessons for every standard, informational texts, art projects, games, writing assignments, STEM challenges, and math and ELA tie-ins.
This curriculum is incredible, but don’t just take my word for it see what other Utah teachers have said:
"This saved my butt. I found a standard I needed to teach but wasn't sure how to teach it. This came in clutch because it helped me to see what to do and it has all the Utah standards linked. I have never been more grateful for any resource as I was for this."
"I have really loved using these with my students. The scope and sequence is well thought out and the science integration has been so much fun for my students!"
"We aren't given any curriculum for Social Studies and this cross-curricular product has been a life saver!"
"My students have loved having this resource. We haven't been focused on Social Studies much in our school and I wanted to be able to work it in. These lessons have made things very interesting for the students and it helps us all to stay engaged. Thank you so much for the effort you put in to this resource!"
